Spotlight: Influential Hispanics

Steven González

King County Superior Court Judge Steven Gonzalez, who prosecuted one of the nation’s most high-profile terrorism cases, was named to the Washington State Supreme Court and will be the second Latino justice on the state’s high court.

The new justice formerly worked as a criminal prosecutor with the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Seattle.  He was involved with the prosecution of Ahmed Ressam, the Los Angeles-bound, Algerian-born terrorist with a trunk full of bomb explosives who was apprehended by U.S. Customs in Port Angeles in 1999.
